Children learned how to make model boats and sailed them in the man-made pond set-up in a parking lot.

 

Cherry blossoms were in bloom along the waterfront promenade.

Volunteers from the SW Library Playground Project did face painting - this child wanted a Metro map.

Three blocks of Water Street were used during the festival.

Crowds arrived early for the fireworks show.

Pink lanterns at the SW Duck Pond were a nice touch to the ceremony earlier in the day to turn on the fountains for the season.

Pink lights illuminated the waterfront before the fireworks show to celebrate the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
